The Dubrovnik Summer Festival is undoubtedly the largest and most representative cultural manifestation, not only in Dubrovnik, but in all of Croatia. It features almost two months of a rich programme of classical music, theatre, opera and dance, all performed in more than seventy open-air venues scattered across this pearl of a city.
Whether you are a passionate follower of high culture or just want to be amazed by spectacular performances under a starry night sky, surrounded by the fresh and salty Adriatic air, you will be glad you visited the festival.
As for its origins, it was at the beginning of the 50s that the Dubrovnik Summer Festival was founded. However, the idea of harmonizing the renaissance and baroque atmosphere of Dubrovnik and the living spirit of drama and music, actually derived from the intellectual way of life of the city itself, from its living creative tradition. This original and ambitious concept has turned the festival into a prestigious gathering of some of the best world’s talents.
This year marks the Great 70th Festival Anniversary which will be held between the 10th of July and the 25th of August.
If you find yourself in Dubrovnik during the festival, treat yourself with this unforgettable experience.
